The most common booking mistake we see is someone paying for a standard clean when the space has never had a deep clean. The visit goes fine, the surfaces look better, and a week later it feels the same as before, because the buildup was never in the places a standard clean touches.
A standard clean is maintenance. Kitchens and bathrooms sanitized, surfaces dusted, floors vacuumed and mopped, beds made, trash out. It assumes the underlying condition of the home is already good and its job is to hold that line.
A deep clean is a reset. Baseboards and door frames by hand, grout scrubbed rather than mopped over, cabinet fronts degreased, appliance interiors emptied and cleaned, light fixtures and vent covers washed, window tracks cleared, and furniture moved so the floor underneath gets done. It takes considerably longer, and it only has to happen once if the schedule after it is consistent.
Here is the test. Run a finger along the top edge of a door frame and along the baseboard behind a piece of furniture. If both come back clean, book a standard visit. If either one does not, start with a deep clean and put a recurring schedule behind it, which is what most of our clients across Jersey City and Hoboken end up doing.
Cost-wise the deep clean is the bigger single number, but it is a one-time number. After it, a biweekly or monthly standard visit keeps the home at that level indefinitely, and nothing ever has to be reset again.
